During the year, people are flooded with appeals, credit card offers, discounts and other "special mail offers" they never asked for. We regularly receive notes from our supporters asking us to keep their gifts confidential and not to sell their names off our mailing list.

We want to assure all our supporters that we DO NOT rent, trade or share our mailing list; all names and donation details are kept confidential!

Although the rental of mailing lists can be a significant source of income for non-profits and other businesses, the Lighthouse Mission decided long ago that our supporters' privacy was far more important.

If you receive appeals from other charities that you haven't supported in the past, remember that not only other charities, but also many magazine and catalog companies rent their lists. There are also companies that rent out their lists compiled from phone books and even warranty cards - have you ever checked a box marked something like "Give to Charities" or even "Read the Bible regularly" on the "Lifestyle" portion of a questionnaire?

We do try our best to ensure that your donation helps as many people as possible and that you, as a supporter of the Mission, are informed, not harassed, by our mailings.
